Networking Workshop: 'Learning the Art of the Informational Interview' Wednesday, April 28, 2010 5:30pm-9:00pm SOLD OUT
Description: Connecting with other professionals is a vital skill for succeeding in the world of science and technology. One of the most powerful ways to get information – and, studies show, one of the most effective approaches to landing a job – is to sit down with individuals and find out more about what they do. These 'informational interviews' are a great way to learn about different types of positions, get your name out in the business community, and meet new, interesting people. This lively, interactive three hour workshop will focus on improving your ability to ask for informational interviews and make them productive. It will take the mystery out of a key aspect of networking, and teach you concrete skills for reaching out to others so you can achieve your full potential. In this session, you will learn:
Workshop Leader: Sarah Cardozo Duncan is a career strategist with an established national and international client base. Ms. Duncan runs her own consulting firm, Career Strategist, and draws upon over twenty years of recruitment and career development experience to help clients define new or existing career paths, or to help them navigate successfully in their current companies. She previously served as president of the Alliance, an umbrella group of women’s associations that collectively claim about 13,000 members in greater Boston. Sarah has been recognized by Boston Magazine as one of the 100 most powerful women in Boston.
