About Coded BiasWhen MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini discovers that many facial recognition systems struggle to accurately identify women and people with darker skin tones, she embarks on a journey to uncover the broader implications of bias in artificial intelligence. Her investigation reveals that AI systems are not inherently neutral and often reflect the biases of the data and people that create them. Determined to drive change, Buolamwini founds the Algorithmic Justice League and becomes a leading advocate for greater transparency, accountability, and regulation in AI technologies.
