About the Speaker
Dr. Gwen Acton is a trusted authority on strategic leadership at the intersection of science, technology, and business. As CEO of Vivo Group, she partners with innovative organizations to transform their top technical experts into influential and inspiring leaders, driving performance and innovation. Her work has empowered over 5,000 scientists and engineers to excel as leaders within Fortune 100 companies, high-growth startups, research organizations, and elite academic institutions. Dr. Acton earned her PhD in Biology from MIT in a Nobel Prize-winning laboratory. She is the former President of WEST and held a faculty position in biology at Harvard University. Additionally, Dr. Acton served as the Director of Scientific Development at the Whitehead Institute. A dynamic speaker and thought leader, Dr. Acton is the author of the books Leadership for Scientists and Engineers: Transforming Brilliant Experts into Inspiring Managers and The Bluffer’s Guide to Genetics. She holds the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation from the National Speakers Association, and her governance experience includes serving on the boards of the Forsyth Institute and The Bioscience Network.
