Leadership Secret Weapon: Put Your Oxygen Mask on First

As leaders and business professionals, you are committed to leading your organizations and teams. Despite all the stress and anxiety you may be experiencing in your job and your industry, your team never sees it. You juggle many responsibilities with precision and composure. Along the way you may be forgetting about the one person without whom, you can’t succeed – yourself.

Increasing we are recognizing that to lead and influence others, we need to first take care of ourselves. Self-care is indeed a leadership skill. In this interactive session, we will explore the foundation of why we have to follow the conventional wisdom of putting your oxygen mask on first. Participants will interactively share what works for them and where they experience challenges of prioritizing self-care.

Participants will learn:

  • The dynamics of energy management
  • How to build rituals for sustained energy
  • Approaches to building resilience
  • Techniques to avoid exhaustion, overload, and burnout
  • Ways to hold yourself accountable to being present to your own well-being.

About Mari Ryan, MBA, MHP, CWP

Mari Ryan, MBA, MHP is a worksite well-being strategist, award-winning author, and speaker. For more than a decade, Ms. Ryan has been creating healthier businesses and impacting the lives of employees, through her consulting work and speaking on worksite well-being. Mari earned a Bachelor’s degree from Lesley University, an MBA from Boston University, a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Nebraska Methodist College, and is a certified Worksite Wellness Consultant. Mari is a professional member of the National Speakers Association and President of the NSA New England Chapter.
