WEST Dynamic Pod Mentoring - Mentors

Thank you for your interest in becoming a mentor with WEST. This exciting and unique pilot mentoring program is a great opportunity to share your experience and connect with women at different stages of their career.

We are looking forward to tapping into your expertise to help this next generation of leaders develop their skills and accomplish their goals.

As a mentor you are expected to:

  • Support mentees with honest feedback and advice, even if that is “I don’t know”
  • Encourage peer mentees to actively share
  • Use active listening (i.e. listening, asking relevant questions)
  • Use a coaching approach (i.e. guided brainstorming/coaching vs telling them)
  • Practice a growth mindset (i.e. positive intent and challenge to expand sphere of comfort)
  • Follow rules of psychological safety (i.e. confidentialitysafe space, openness)
  • Commit to actively attend sessions
  • Be time conscious and inclusive of the participants during each of your pod sessions
  • Facilitate targeted discussions (i.e. avoid scope creep and one-person domination)
  • Motivate, advise, and support mentees through their journeys
  • Share your own experiences
  • Provide a short bio of experience which will appear on the website
  • Provide us feedback (brief survey) each week so that we can refine and tweak for the next session

If you are interested in this program, please complete this interest survey by September 1, 2020. You will be contacted for a brief interview. We will share more information about the program and answer any questions that you have.

If the pilot is successful based on mentee/mentor program evaluation feedback, WEST intends to formalize the mentoring program in 2021.
