About the Authors

Paul Levy has led several complex organizations during a multi-faceted career. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston from January 2002 to January 2011. BIDMC is one of the nation's preeminent academic health centers, providing state-of-the-art clinical care, research, and teaching in affiliation with Harvard Medical School. Previously, he was Executive Dean for Administration at Harvard Medical School; a faculty member at MIT; Executive Director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority; and Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. Paul presently advises corporations around the world on negotiation strategy.

Farzana Mohamed is founder and principal of a consulting practice that advises organizations on change management, employee engagement, and process improvement. She previously served as Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Planning for a community hospital, where she was responsible for managing governance activities and coordinating the planning, user design and permitting for a significant facility expansion, a project that involved interfacing with multiple stakeholders with diverse interests. Farzana was a member of a core management team at MIT involved in setting up two international institutional partnerships. She has worked, lived, and traveled in a number of different countries, and finds negotiation and cross cultural communication fascinating. Farzana enjoys working with and mentoring young people just starting out in their careers.
