Emotional Intelligence requires effective communication between the rational and emotional centers of the brain – it represents the path between feeling and reason. There are 4 skills that together make up Emotional Intelligence; self awareness, self management, social awareness and relationship management. This interactive session will provide an overview of EQ and the role it can play in building a powerful leadership team and improving operational efficiency. It will include introduction of the brain science behind the theory of emotional intelligence, tips and strategies for developing required competencies, and the importance of building the business case for growing emotionally intelligent leaders.PerkinElmer, 940 Winter Street, Waltham, MA 02451

When we are not intentional, however, we rely on others to guide our careers, which may not align with our own values and goals. We may also have unrealistic expectations of the support others will provide. bluebird bio, 60 Binney Street, 10th Floor, Aviary Room, Cambridge, MA 02142

We are socialized with these stereotypes all around us and these messages are so pervasive that despite our best intentions, we sometimes fall into biased behaviors and thinking, often unconsciously. In this workshop led by Chris Haigh, we will define bias, understand where it comes from, reflect on our own biases, and examine strategies for interrupting bias in ourselves and others. Come prepared to engage in self-reflection and in dialogue with your colleagues about an issue that truly affects us all. bluebird bio, 60 Binney Street, 10th Floor, Aviary Room, Cambridge, MA 02142
