Description:

Typically project managers in the biopharma and technical space do not have direct line authority for the teams they manage. As a result they quickly learn that their skills at managing through influence are central to their ability to be effective.  In this panel, there will be an in depth discussion by those who have held roles as program and/or alliance managers, as well as those who represent the 'customers' of those managers. You will learn about key strategies for project/alliance advancement across functional lines, and expand your leadership, influencing and motivational skills. Panelists include:

  • Dinah Sah, PhD, is Vice President, Research, CNS, and Oncology at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals where she established and built the CNS and Oncology efforts, and leads program collaborations with Medtronic and Biogen Idec. Prior to this, she was Senior Director, Research at Alnylam, and served as Associate Director, Research at Biogen Idec where she led research efforts in neuroscience and strategic planning for the neurobiology focus area. Dr. Sah was Associate Director of Neurobiology at Signal Pharmaceuticals in San Diego where she was project leader for collaborations with Roche and Nippon Kayaku. She completed her post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School and received her doctorate in Neurobiology from Harvard University.
  • Kyle MacDonald, PhD, is a former Senior Vice President at Polaroid where she developed and implemented a strategy for the company’s exit from the instant film business. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Global Operations, and Division Vice President in Process Manufacturing at Polaroid where she led an organization of 1,000 employees encompassing 7 operations. She has spoken at the Turnaround Management Association and is currently a Lecturer in the Engineering Management Program at Tufts University’s Gordon Institute. She received her doctorate in Chemistry from Brandeis University and attended Simmons College Graduate School of Management.
