WEST LEADERSHIP TEAM EXPANSION 
October 10, 2011 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – WEST, a non-profit group promoting the advancement of Women in the business of Science and Technology, further expands its leadership team with the addition of an advisory board and  two additional members of the board of directors members, Beth Edwards and Jane Mason. WEST RECEIVES GRANT FROM MASSACHUSETTS LIFE SCIENCES CENTER TO EXPAND PROGRAMS
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center announced today that a $30,000 grant has been awarded to WEST, a non-profit group promoting the advancement of Women in the business of Science and Technology, to expand the geographic reach of the organization’s workforce development programming.  The grant will allow for WEST programs to be made available in the Route 128 and Route 495/Worcester regions. WEST APPOINTS ILENE FISCHER AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Ilene Fischer is an expert in helping organizations infuse innovation into an organizational culture while producing extraordinary business results. JOANNE KAMENS WINS CATALYST AWARD

WEST Board Member Joanne Kamens will receive the 2010 Catalyst Award from the Science Club for Girls for her "dedication to equity in science, engineering and technology." The award will be presented at a ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, November 10 in Cambridge. Joanne has focused her efforts on opening doors for women scientists by creating supportive mentoring networks for over a decade. She founded the Boston chapter of AWIS (the Association for Women in Science) and now serves on the national AWIS Chapters Committee. She helped create and continues to advise MASS AWIS on its Mentoring Circle program. She is the current Director of the Boston HBA (Healthcare Businesswomen's Association) Mentoring Committee and is an active Mentornet.net participant. Dr. Kamens serves on the Board of Directors of WEST (Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology) and is chair of the WEST Membership committee. WEST UNVEILS NEW LOGO

WEST has unveiled a new logo to help launch its second decade of successfully encouraging women to develop entreprenurial thinking regarding profitable business management, educated risk taking, creative problem solving, and inspirational, supportive leadership for their teams, organizations, and businesses. WEST is continuing to grow and expand to offer more educational and networking opportunities to the community and its members. WEST ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Four talente d Boston women entrepreneurial leaders who personify Massachusetts’ economic strength in science and technology will receive the first annual WEST Leadership Awards.  The awardees  have demonstrated notable achievements in science and technology, either by starting their own companies or successfully applying entrepreneurial thinking within larger organizations.  They have taken initiative and risks in business and led their companies and colleagues to new levels of accomplishment.
