Do women scientists need their own organization?
Most scientists are trained for academic careers and receive little or no exposure to small business careers during their formal training. Women, in particular, have much to contribute to and much to gain from entrepreneurship. However, women have not played a significant entrepreneurial role in advanced technology industries. This is beginning to change.
How is WEST different from other entrepreneurial organizations?
Several organizations provide information and training to women and minorities who wish to start a business; others encourage women to enter science and engineering fields. However, no readily accessible organization focuses on developing the entrepreneurial talents of women with substantial training in science and technology, but little background in business.
