Description:

A three-hour workshop to address challenges of making the transition from individual contributor to management role. What are the tools you will need? How will you establish your credibility? You will explore the relationship you have as a leader with your team. How do you start building a team? What does the team need to be effective? You will come away with:

  • Your personal action plan on what to do differently as a leader
  • A clear mission for your team
  • Establishing the foundations for your teams


The format of the workshop will include presentations of best practices and leadership theories, but the real learning will be sharing of experiences with your colleagues and receiving advice on your own situation. By the end of the workshop, you will have created a clear direction and action plan to follow.

Workshop Leader:

Tina Wong-Russell consults on organizational transformation, leveraging her expertise in implementing change through performance management and global learning and development initiatives. An executive coach and consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in organizational development, learning, and training strategies, she has clients in both private and public sectors.

 

Her most recent extended consulting engagement has been with the Department of Homeland Security on transforming the organization to the new Performance Management Program since April 2006. With her current client, GT Solar Inc., she consults on strategies in succession management, talent development and provides individual coaching. She has also served as senior director of Global Learning & Development at Aspect Software, Inc., in Massachusetts, where she focused on developing competency models and performance-management systems.  Tina has led leadership and management initiatives, delivered training, coaching, team building, and strategy development.  Her consulting experience spans multiple industries and multinational organizations, emphasizing the life sciences.

 

Born in Hong Kong, Tina has worked throughout the Asia-Pacific region with such multinational organizations as the Dow Chemical Company, Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Hill and Knowlton Public Relations, and Performa Inc. (a consulting firm specializing in change and service management). Since relocating to the U.S., Tina was the Director of Public Policy in the Chairman’s Office of Glaxo Latin America and Far East, consulting with top-level executives and key managers.  In consulting roles, she has served a wide variety of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to biotech start-ups. Additionally, Tina directed the organizational-development business unit of an international life-science venture firm based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

 

Tina holds a B. Sc. Degree in Communications, as well as an M.B.A.  She maintains an active presence in the nonprofit sector, having served on the board of Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology (WEST) and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Sino-American Pharmaceutical Association.
