'SUMMER SKILLS SERIES' WORKSHOPS Mondays in June & July 2009 5:30pm-9:00pm
Summer is a great time to expand your skill set! The WEST "Summer Skills Series" workshops are a series of small, interactive 3+ hour workshops in which you will gain new expertise through participatory exercises and lectures. These workshops are designed specifically for those in the science and technology industries, and are taught by outstanding workshop leaders. Monday, June 22, 2009 A 3-hour interactive, participatory workshop in which you will address the challenges of transitioning from the individual contributor to a leadership role. The session explores the tools you will use to establish your credibility and build a strong relationship with your team and stakeholders. Workshop leader is Tina Wong-Russell, a consultant with more than 30 years' experience in organizational development, learning, and training strategies.
PRESENTATION SKILLS FOR SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS Monday, June 29, 2009 This practical workshop is designed for those who are technically trained. You will learn how to design and deliver better presentations in a variety of formats including: job interviews, internal briefings, investor pitches, and conference lectures. The workshop leader is WEST President, book author, and speaker Gwen Acton PhD. MORE INFO Monday July 6, 2009 What should you do with all those Linked-In invitations? This interactive workshop will help you learn how to use social networking tools such as Linked-In, Facebook, and Twitter in a business context to help you advance your career. Workshop leader is Lisa Gualtieri PhD, Adjunct Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in the Health Communication Program.
CORPORATE SAVVY Monday July 13, 2009 A three-hour interactive, participatory workshop in which you will learn how to navigate corporate cultures in order to succeed. Workshop leader is Sandra Glucksmann PhD, Senior VP of Research and Business Operations at Cerulean Pharmaceuticals.
MENTORING: HOW TO FIND (AND BE) A GREAT MENTOR Monday July 20, 2009 This workshop addresses the fundamentals of good mentoring relationships, from both the perspective of the mentor, and the mentee. Learn how to find mentors, and how to be a great mentor yourself. Workshop leader is Joanne Kamens PhD who is Director of Discovery at RXi Pharmaceuticals, frequent speaker on this topic, and has implemented successful mentoring programs.
