The Art of the Informational Interview

You’re told that networking is key to success in building your career.  You finally go out on a limb and book an “exploratory” interview to collect information about a job, career field, industry or company.  Now what??  Come learn how to ask for, conduct, and follow up with exploratory, or any kind of interview.  You’ll learn practical information on how to prepare for and guide these important discussions.  In addition, we’ll have some hands-on exercises to give you practice.  

 

About the Presenter

Alice Koehn Benson is President & CEO of Gatti & Associates, a 31 year-old executive search firm.  Alice began her career in Human Resources and has spent the past 22 years in executive search focused primarily on Life Sciences and Technology clients.  She has literally interview thousands of people in her career.  She can share insights on both the candidates and clients feedback on what to do and what not to do.

Prior to joining Gatti & Associates, Alice led the Boston office for a global search firm, Coulter Partners, focusing on the Life Sciences sector.  Previously she was President of Prestonwood Associates, leading it to be a recognized search leader focused on the Technology and Innovation, Healthcare, and Life Science sectors. Her decade at Prestonwood included conducting searches for major Bio-pharma, Medical Technology, CRO, Health Care Services and Technology clients.  She also ran her own executive search firm.  Before her search career, Alice spent 11 years in in senior Human Resources roles at companies going through significant change.  They included PTC, Bank of Boston, Lotus Development Corporation and BBN.

Alice is committed to extending her corporate experience to various community causes and recently gathered a diverse group of community leaders to found the Weston Community Health Coalition, an organization that develops resources and solutions for the wellness needs of the youth and elderly. Alice sits on the Board of WEST, Woman in the Enterprise of Science and Technology and the Board of the Weston Council on Aging.  Alice also has volunteered extensively in the local schools.
